This is our exciting new Youth Philanthropy program. This innovative program is being piloted in synagogues around the country to engage Jewish youth in philanthropy and making a real positive change in the world. Over the course of the year, teens come together to learn about philanthropy from a Jewish perspective. Their efforts are focused on creating a philanthropic organization which will raise money and interact with a variety of charities. Using methods of consensus-building and mutual respect, they work as a group to determine their desired areas of focus, to whom they will give money, and how much each applicant receive. This is an incredibly meaningful program with long-reaching benefits to the participants and the community at large (not to mention a great addition to any college application or a fun way to earn community service hours for school). The program culminates with a brunch where recipients of grants are honored and the community can celebrate the hard work of all participants involved.
