Program Description:

Jewish Teen Giving Initiative empowers a diverse group of year 9 students by enabling them to engage with the real-life application of Tikkun Olam and Tzedakah. Over the course of a year, participants explore the changes they wish to see in the world and learn the tools of philanthropy and grantmaking to enable incredible grassroots initiatives of their choosing. Driven by Jewish values and armed with leadership and philanthropic skills, the teens collectively make decisions and grant real dollars to causes they are passionate about. Through monthly meetings facilitated by experts in Jewish philanthropy and teen education, participants experience a full grantmaking cycle. This includes exploring Jewish values, meeting not for profits as well as planning and implementing fundraisers. There are numerous opportunities for hands-on volunteering experiences and ways to further involve the participants in the community. These monthly engagements foster teen leadership, collaboration and an overall exploration of new ideas and concepts of giving and philanthropy. The Jewish Teen Giving Initiative creates and grows the next generation of changemakers and givers of the Jewish community.
